So... The Satyricon.
Interesting story.
Interesting story.
However, I was unable to comprehend most of the reading so I
didn’t get much out of it, unfortunately. Though, I did notice that the
characters indulged a ridiculous amount of food, it almost seemed gluttonous.
An artist's interpretation of Fortunata |
I was kind of confused about some of the details in the
story. I felt like it deviated from the main point quite a bit. The scene
towards the end when the men are taking the clothes off of Fortunata, was this
considered a sexual assault? That part completely confused the heck out of me. I
guess part of the reason why I was so lost was also because they diverted to
tell stories about werewolves and witches among other random thoughts.
I thought it was also weird how the “chapters” were about a
few paragraphs long and then the next chapter would start.
Overall, this story was a heck of a confusing read and I ‘m
really, really hoping that we can discuss it more in class after I find more
synopses of it on the internet.
The reading was pretty confusing. I agree with you that it is sick the amount of waste that happens in society. There is a lot of waste in general but food waste is a big one. I was watching show a while ago about Las Vegas and they were showing all the hotels dumping these massive amounts of food into the garbage. Many of the hotels in the area have these massive buffets and obviously not all that food gets used so they just through it in the garbage.
ReplyDeleteOK so I'm really happy that you pointed out the whole "short chapters" thing. I noticed that and thought that it was really weird, on top of all the other odd parts of this story (there were so many). I like that your blog points out several of those weird moments, like the whole "witches and werewolves" thing, which I think I kind of forced to the back of my head just cause they were so random...
